About the role

We are looking for a proactive, energetic and resilient person to lead the practice and operational management of a team of professional clinicians, social workers, teachers, youth workers, kaihautu and administrative staff who provide 24/7 care and support for up to 8 rangatahi resident at Te Poutama Ārahi Rangatahi, a secure residential facility on the outskirts of Christchurch.  

Purpose Te Poutama Ārahi Rangatahi

To provide a comprehensive and integrated residential treatment programme for up to 8 adolescent males who have harmful sexual behaviours and have been referred to us for intervention and treatment from throughout New Zealand.  The service is responsible for the care, education and therapeutic interventions to assist young people make positive changes.

To be successful in this role you will need to be: 

• experienced at leading and managing staff at a senior leadership level, ideally within residential services
• knowledgeable with a current understanding of relevant care practice standards
• able to develop and lead the service’s strategic direction and national policy.
• familiar with and have a sound understanding of the social services sector including contract management and reporting
• have confidence in stakeholder management and relationship building

Skills and Experience

We'd like to hear from you if you have:

• experience in the not for profit/government sector
• experience/understanding of requirements to manage the delivery of residential care services
• a strong understanding of young people’s rights and issues
• relevant sector or professional organisation’s registration/membership
• experience in leadership/management of a  multi disciplinary team
• strategic thinking skills and abilities 
• a sound knowledge of government funder processes and systems
• proven financial/business acumen and negotiation/influencing skills
• excellent communication skills with flexibility in approach 
• the ability to build and maintain successful, productive professional relationships
• a current clean full NZ driver's licence
