Retail Lead Winton - Fixed Term

We have an fixed term (10 months maternity leave cover) opportunity for a passionate and experienced retail leader to take charge of our retail and customer service teams across VetSouth’s western clinics – Winton, Otautau, and Lumsden. This is a fixed term, maternity leave cover. 

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the customer experience in our stores, driving sales and team performance, and ensuring each clinic is stocked, and running like clockwork. About the Role:

This is a varied, hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on people and performance. You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and supporting retail and customer service teams across the West region


• Delivering outstanding customer experiences in-store and by phone


• Running regular team meetings, training, and performance reviews


• Collaborating with marketing and suppliers to keep promotions and displays on point


• Managing stock levels and making sure all inventory processes are followed


• Driving a positive team culture that lives and breathes the VetSouth values

You’ll also play a key part in:

• Ensuring a safe work environment and promoting health & safety within your team


• Connecting with the wider VetSouth retail leads to share learnings and improve consistency


• Representing VetSouth at community and marketing events when needed

About You:

You’re someone who thrives on leadership, enjoys variety, and has a strong customer focus. Ideally, you’ll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience in retail, including 2+ years in a leadership role


• Strong people leadership, coaching, and communication skills


• Confidence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)


• A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused mindset


• A genuine interest in supporting rural NZ communities


• Knowledge of the farming or vet industry is a bonus – but not essential if you’re willing to learn!

This role is based in Winton and covers our Otautau and Lumsden clinics, so a full, clean NZ driver’s licence is required.
