Job Description - Retinal Screener

We are continuing to expand our Retinal Screening team and are looking for people with Health Industry experience, such as: Health Care Assistant, Enrolled Nurse or previously Registered Nurse etc., to work as a Retinal Screener to help with the smooth running of our clinics with a focus on diabetes and eye health.  The role involves working in clinics within the Waitemata region including West Auckland, Rodney and North Shore, with occasional work in our Albany main office.

About the roles 


The Retinal Screener will provide a professional, respectful and caring health care assistance, using their experience to help facilitate the smooth running of the Retinal Screening Clinics and promote a positive image of the service. The Retinal Screener will also be responsible for assisting patients when they arrive for their appointment, completing the screening processes.



The role requires someone skilled in dealing with a range of personalities and people of different ages and ethnicities. You will have a dedication to patient care and strong communication skills (in-person, over-the-phone and written) and a desire to learn the skills in Retinal Screening to assist with running Retinal Screening Clinics across the Waitemata region. 



What you will bring 


You will have experience in healthcare in either primary or secondary care and in order to be successful in this position, you will also: 



  • Demonstrate strong ability with technical equipment and IT 

  • Strong Cultural Awareness with empathy and understanding and the ability to adapt and manage language barriers. 

  • A high degree of accuracy and pride in all work 

  • A full drivers licence and comfortable driving a van 

  • Be physically fit to be able to manage retinal screening equipment
