We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our Roadmarking team in Christchurch as the new Department Manager. In this role, you’ll lead a capable team, shape how the department runs and drive safe, high-quality delivery, helping us keep communities moving and roads safer across the region.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As our Roadmarking Department Manager, you’ll lead the successful, safe and profitable operation of the roadmarking department based out of Hornby, Christchurch. This is a role with real scope, you’ll lead people, build strong customer relationships, drive performance, and keep a close eye on quality, safety and commercial results. You’ll be trusted to shape the way the department runs, back your team, and keep work moving forward.
 

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

• Effectively manage client relationships to ensure continued success
• Be responsible for preparation of estimates and tendering
• Oversee daily operational activities including resourcing, programming of works, contractual operations and obligations
• Manage financial performance, reporting, ensuring optimisation of financial outcomes
• Evaluate performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Manage the training and development of staff while fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment

• Proven experience managing business units, ensuring high-quality outcomes and efficient use of resources.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong focus on people, safety and quality.
• A strong focus on safety and compliance.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Sound financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and job costing.
• The ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with a variety of different stakeholders.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and procedures.
