Position Overview 

As the Sales Development Representative, you’ll be responsible for high-quality outbound prospecting, lead qualification, and setting meetings to fuel the BlinkPay business development pipeline. The role exists to consistently book well-qualified meetings for the Business Development team, accurately capture customer context in HubSpot, and coordinate clustered, travel-aware calendars so BDMs can spend maximum time with the right prospects.

Role Responsibilities 

  • Execute daily outbound activity across calls, email, and LinkedIn to generate new conversations and book meetings.
  • Demonstrate exceptional prospecting skills: confident cold calling, objection handling, and value-led messaging.
  • Qualify prospects to an agreed standard before booking (use case, eligibility, why now, decision makers, timeline, and fit).
  • Ensure the BlinkPay proposition is positioned correctly on every call and that meeting notes are complete, accurate, and actionable.
  • Manage multiple BDM calendars and book meetings in clusters to optimise productivity (including travel time and location).
  • Schedule with awareness of the cities/regions being visited, sequencing outreach to fill gaps around existing meetings.
  • Provide structured handover notes to BDMs, including qualification summary, key stakeholders, and recommended next steps.
  • Share insights from outbound conversations (objections, competitor mentions, emerging use cases) to inform messaging and collateral.

Required Experience & Qualifications 

  • Proven experience in outbound sales development, lead generation, or appointment setting in a B2B environment.
  • Strong phone and written communication skills, with confidence in cold outreach and objection handling.
  • High attention to detail: accurate note taking, follow-ups, and CRM data entry are non-negotiable.
  • Strong organisational skills: able to manage multiple calendars, competing priorities, and travel-aware scheduling.
  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn BlinkPay’s product, basic API concepts, and common integration patterns.
  • HubSpot proficiency (or comparable CRM), including sequences, tasks, pipeline views, and reporting basics.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications 

  • Payments and fintech exposure (payment gateways, reconciliation, merchant onboarding, risk).
  • Familiarity with Open Banking concepts and the New Zealand ecosystem.
  • Experience supporting field-based selling (route planning, clustered meetings, and event follow-up).

What will success in this role look like?

  • Achieving daily call, email and follow-up targets
  • Maintaining consistent weekly outbound cadence across priority segments and target accounts
  • Meetings booked and held (show-rate), with clustered scheduling aligned to BDM availability and travel plans.
  • Qualified meeting acceptance rate (meetings that progress to BDM discovery and/or an opportunity).
  • Lead-to-meeting and meeting-to-opportunity conversion rates improving quarter-on-quarter
  • CRM hygiene and data accuracy: 100% of activity logged, correct fields completed, and follow-ups captured.
  • Timely handover notes and next steps provided for every booked meeting.
  • Pipeline and campaign reporting delivered on schedule with reliable data.
