School Nurse

Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity 

We have a fabulous opportunity to support youth health as a School Nurse at Te Awamutu College.

This key role will enhance the ability of young people to manage their own health and well-being, and ensure they have an understanding of how to access the health services they require. Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Educator or Nurse Manager – School Based Health, you will be part of a wider team, whilst of course working autonomously within your school.

This role will be based at Te Awamutu College working 35 hours a week (school term only).

He kōrero mōu: About you 

• It is essential that you are passionate about working with young people and reducing health inequity for our Maaori, Pacific youth, rainbow young people, care experienced young people and rangatahi/ youth who experience a disability


• You must be a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.


• You will have a minimum of five years nursing experience, with previous experience working with youth preferred.


• You will be comfortable working autonomously in a culturally appropriate, safe and responsive manner.


• A culturally responsive and inclusive team member who is respectful of diverse beliefs, protocols, and practices and is committed to the principles of Tikanga Maori.


• An individual who has a high level of integrity and has the ability to ensure confidentiality of information.


• Someone who is passionate about providing quality health services that meet the needs of children, young people, and their whanau.


• Someone who holds a current and valid NZ Drivers licence


• Leadership qualities are an advantage but not essential
