Join Red Badge Group as a Security Officer at the bus exchange location. You’ll provide a visible, approachable security presence focused on passenger safety, and supporting transit staff while ensuring compliance with site procedures and health & safety requirements.
We are looking for 1 full time and 1 part time security officer to join us to work on this site - the hours are between 1300-0030 Monday - Friday & 2000-0030 Saturday & Sunday 1400-0030. Successful candidates must be available to work at least 1 weekend day.
Provide a professional and visible security presence throughout the site, including foot patrols, static guarding and customer assistance.
Monitor passenger flows, platforms, waiting areas and amenities to detect and deter anti-social behaviour, theft, vandalism and unauthorised activity.
Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, medical events, disturbances and alarm activations; assess situations and escalate to management or emergency services when required.
Support transport staff and members of the public by providing directions, information and reassurance while maintaining professional boundaries.
Assist with access control, lost property handling and crowd management during peak times or special events.
Complete accurate incident reports, daily logs and handover notes to ensure clear communication between shifts.
Report hazards, maintenance issues and safety concerns through the correct channels to maintain a safe environment for passengers and staff.
Uphold Red Badge Group’s professional standards, site-specific policies and health & safety protocols at all times.
Hold, or be able to obtain, a current NZ COA (Certificate of Approval) security licence.
Eligible to work in New Zealand and at least 18 years of age.
Reliable, punctual and able to work rostered shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by the site.
Strong observational skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to de-escalate challenging interactions respectfully and lawfully.
Ability to safely and effectively de‑escalate aggressive or challenging behaviour while maintaining professionalism.
Proven ability to work independently, use initiative and follow procedures accurately.
Current, clean full NZ driver’s licence is preferred where mobility between nearby transport sites is required.
Clean criminal record and willingness to undergo required background checks.
Professional, courteous demeanour and strong customer focus.
Reliability, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
Good attention to detail and strong report-writing skills.
Confidence managing crowd dynamics and responding to incidents calmly and proportionately.
Team player who supports colleagues and contributes to a positive site culture.
