Mō te tūnga | About the role
New Zealand Police is completing the final phase of its Corporate Finance transformation, building a high-performing, advisory-led function aligned to executive priorities and frontline outcomes. The new operating model strengthens strategic capability, simplifies leadership structures, and reinvests capacity into financial planning, reporting, systems, and controls to support a $3B+ organisation operating in a constrained fiscal environment. This role offers the opportunity to support a modern finance function that delivers strong stewardship, high-quality insights, and trusted business partnership across the organisation.
As our Senior Advisor - Finance Assessment and Improvement, you'll play a key role in driving positive change across the Finance function and the wider organisation.
You'll work with people at all levels to identify opportunities for improvement, strengthen financial capability, and enhance the way Finance supports decision-making across New Zealand Police.
You'll be naturally curious, enjoy understanding how things work, and be motivated by finding better ways of doing things. Whether you're coaching colleagues, translating complex financial and government processes into practical guidance, or leading people and process improvement initiatives, you'll help build the capability, knowledge, and confidence of others.
You'll also provide financial analysis and advice to programme and project managers on investment proposals and business cases, helping to support sound investment decisions and informed organisational decision-making.
Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you'll use your strong interpersonal skills to influence, educate, and support change. If you're passionate about continuous improvement, enjoy learning and developing your own expertise, and are motivated by making a meaningful difference, this role offers the opportunity to create lasting impact across the organisation.
