Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role 



As the Senior Advisor, Traceability you will play a key role in shaping and delivering OSPRI's traceability strategy, policy, and programme priorities. The position is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the performance of the Traceability Programme. Leading the development and review of traceability policy, compliance framework, and operational settings, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.

What success will look like:  



  • Leading the development, review, and continuous improvement of traceability strategy, policy, and operational frameworks across NAIT and wider traceability services.

  • Overseeing and reporting on the performance of the Traceability programme, ensuring progress is tracking against the strategic objectives and key performance indicators.

  • Identifying trends, advising on strategy.

  • Managing the relationship between OSPRI and the Ministry for Primary Industries NAIT Compliance Intelligence team, ensuring alignment of objectives, priorities, and work programmes.

  • Leading the development and ongoing improvement of compliance frameworks, settings, and interventions to improve traceability outcomes.

  • Delivering timely and accurate reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Living OSPRI’s values daily.



Kōrero mōu - About you 



Our ideal candidate will bring experience in policy, regulatory programmes, or advisory roles, with a demonstrated ability to develop high-quality papers, strategy documents, and recommendations that inform organisational decision-making. You will be confident translating complex issues into practical approaches and influencing outcomes across a range of stakeholders.



You will have experience leading initiatives from design through to implementation, including developing and maintaining frameworks, policies, or compliance activities. You will combine strong judgement and initiative with the ability to drive work forward, build effective relationships, and deliver sustainable outcomes for the Traceability programme.



You will bring:



  • A relevant tertiary level qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Experience working with legislation or in a regulatory environment.

  • A high level of attention to detail and organisation.

  • A collaborative working style. 

  • Analytical skills and ability to translate business information needs into technical specifications.

  • Ability to prepare high-quality professional reports, briefings, and business cases.

  • Ability to synthesise complex technical, operational, and regulatory information into clear and influential advice for

  • a range of audiences.

  • Knowledge of or experience in the agricultural sector.

  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting tools, or data analysis platforms would be an advantage.
