Aroturuki Tamariki | Independent Children’s Monitor provides oversight of the oranga tamariki system. We check that organisations supporting and working with tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) in the oranga tamariki system are meeting their needs, delivering services effectively, and improving outcomes. We do this by listening to the experiences of those in the system and analysing data, to provide insights that will drive continuous improvement for tamariki and rangatahi – particularly tamariki and rangatahi Māori and tamariki and rangatahi with disabilities. 

As Kaitātari Raraunga Mātāmua | Senior Analyst Data and Insights you will work within a team of data and insights colleagues to provide analysis, insights and reporting on the qualitative data that our monitoring teams collect during fieldwork and the quantitative data provided by agencies within the oranga tamariki system.

We are looking for an experienced senior analyst who can bring most or all of the following:

• proven ability to manipulate, analyse and report on quantitative data –experience with SQL and Power BI an advantage,


• strong qualitative analysis skills and experience (ideally using NVivo)


• ability to identify and succinctly communicate (in writing) evidence-based insights that will support system improvement,


• understanding of the significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to weave a te ao Māori perspective into the design of measures and analysis,


• knowledge of the oranga tamariki system and the agencies that work within it,


• an open, collaborative working style and ability to build strong working relationships

This role will be appointed based on skills and experience and we expect to appoint the role in the range of $89,000 - $118,000.
