The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join us as we modernise and re-platform our ecommerce system. This is a permanent role, based in Auckland with a hybrid working model.

You’ll be part of a friendly and capable engineering team working on something that really matters, rebuilding our Android app using the latest technologies. This role would suit someone who enjoys both writing quality code and helping others do the same.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to defining Android standards and patterns as part of our broader re-platforming journey


• Design and build a scalable white-label Android app using Kotlin, Compose, MVVM, and other Jetpack libraries


• Collaborate closely with Product and UX to deliver thoughtful, customer-focused experiences


• Mentor developers through code reviews, pairing, and structured feedback


• Shape architecture and design decisions to ensure long-term maintainability and performance


• Champion quality, testability, and simplicity in everything the team builds


• Help grow an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing team culture

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience


• Experience building Android apps using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose


• Experience writing automated tests


• Understanding of modern architectural patterns and modular codebases


• Collaborative, empathetic communication style — you enjoy helping others succeed


• Pragmatism — you know when to optimise and when to ship

If you’ve worked in product teams or led projects where you helped others grow, that’s a big plus.
