Mō te tūnga | About the role


 


The New Zealand Police Information and Communication Technology section is seeking to appoint an experienced ICT Senior Business Analyst on fixed term contract to work on Firearms Safety Authority project within the NIA (National Intelligence Application) product team, based at Police ICT building, Walton Leigh Ave, Porirua.


 


This position sits within a ICT product team and plays a critical role in capturing, understanding and analysing business and technical requirements for a core application, as well as providing support. You will work closely with stakeholders to gather and document requirements, and contribute to solution design, and creation of technical documentation around how our system work. You will be adept at identifying opportunities for improvement and translating them into clear user stories and requirements.  You will work in an agile environment where you will work closely with the product team to deliver fit


 


 


Key Accountabilities:


 



  • Gather, analyse, and refine business and technical requirements through workshops and stakeholder discussions.

  • Collaborate with business teams, technology teams, third parties, and other analysts to support delivery outcomes.

  • Support product enhancements and production environments as required.

  • Communicate complex or technical information clearly, both written and verbal, adapting style to suit different audiences.

  • Facilitate workshops, group discussions, and presentations, including with senior stakeholders.

  • Execute analysis activities to support the development and implementation of ICT solutions.

  • Contribute to agile delivery by participating in and facilitating agile ceremonies.

  • Deliver value to end users through iterative and agile methodologies.

  • Manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining high-quality outputs.

  • Maintain accuracy and quality of work under tight deadlines.

  • Identify, manage, and escalate risks and issues appropriately.

  • Develop and maintain documentation and ensure deliverables are fit for purpose and aligned with best practices.

Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements


 



  • The role is based at the ICT Building in central Porirua, with occasional travel required.

  • Proven experience working within a software development team, with a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold valid work rights for New Zealand.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience is required.

  • Agile certifications are advantageous, with a preference for at least an Agile Fundamentals certification.

  • The successful applicant will need to be based in Wellington or willing to relocate.
