Senior Civil Engineer - Auckland

Our Auckland civil engineering team is involved in a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial land development projects, and we’re now looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to play a key role in leading project delivery and supporting the continued growth of the team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining strong technical capability with client engagement, commercial awareness, and leadership.

Your Role

Reporting to the Civil Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects from concept through to completion. You’ll take ownership of technical quality, programme, and financial performance, while working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful outcomes.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of civil engineering projects in Auckland


• Provide civil engineering design leadership and technical oversight, ensuring compliance with standards, codes, and project scope


• Develop and review complex designs using 12d Model, and provide technical review of others’ work


• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project timelines and budgets


• Act as a key point of contact for clients, managing communications and building trusted relationships


• Assist with contract documentation and contract administration, including variations, claims, EoTs, and disputes


• Monitor project budgets and scope to support profitable project delivery


• Contribute to proposal and tender preparation


• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers

What You Bring

You’re a confident, capable civil engineer with strong local experience and a collaborative approach. You enjoy leading projects, solving problems, and building long-term client relationships.

You’ll bring:

• A degree in Civil Engineering


• 7+ years’ post-graduate experience delivering civil projects in New Zealand


• Strong technical capability, including in-depth knowledge of the NZ Building Act and civil design standards


• Proficiency in 12d Model


• The ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Experience delivering projects to programme and budget


• Experience with NZS 3910 contract administration and revenue generation (advantageous)


• CPEng status or working towards it (advantageous)
