Senior Communications Advisor at Social Workers Registration Board, Wellington

Are you looking for mahi in a busy communications team where nothing stands still from week to week? We are looking for a Senior Communications Advisor for a fixed-term period to join our small but dedicated team, driven by a shared commitment to delivering effective and efficient internal and external communications. The mahi will be vital to executing ourstakeholder engagement strategy and ensuring our messaging reflects our organisational values and strategic objectives.

You will hit the ground running in the 6-month fixed-term position which will provide cover for staff onleave and assist with specific projects. Based in the Corporate Services Team, the heart of our organisation, this role will deliver a wide range of tasks.

  • Development of a stakeholder engagement strategy.
  • Mapping SWRB's current stakeholders.
  • Establish processes for recording and coordinating stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide communications advice and support for the SWRB's social worker workforce planning team.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with great attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, to handle multiple projects, coordinate the input of multiple people, and meet critical deadlines.
  • You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player.
  • Collaborative in approach, willing to share ideas and be open to any ideas or improvements.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experienced in stakeholder engagement, including working with community/ngo/iwi social services and well as understanding machinery of government
  • Able to work successfully with Māori as tangata whenua and across cultures.

The Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) / Kāhui Whakamana Tauwhirois a Crown Entity which is Aotearoa's social worker regulator and lead agency for social worker workforce planning.

It protects the safety of members of the public by ensuring social workers are competent and safe to practise and are accountable for the way in which they practise. It also enhances social workers' professional practice and provide insight into the opportunities and challenges facing the social worker workforce.

As the SWRB, we recognise our Crown-Māori commitment as a Te Tiriti O Waitangi partner and are committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori, strengthening the Crown's relationship with Māori, and developing our Māori capability.

  • Qualification in marketing, communications, or equivalent.
  • Over five years' post qualification experience.
  • Experience in developing stakeholder engagement strategy.
  • Experience developing and implementing communication plans.
  • A working knowledge of regulatory principles and practice would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of the machinery of government processes is desirable.
