Job Description - Senior Data Analyst

Kia ora! I'm Torben, the Head of Data & Analytics at Heartland. We're looking for a new Senior Data Analyst to join our Data & Analytics team based in Newmarket, Auckland.

You'll play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making processes and providing valuable insights to support our strategic objectives. Working with stakeholders across Heartland Bank New Zealand & Heartland Bank Australia, you'll understand what our business needs to know and translate it into technical requirements for our engineers, allowing our team to produce higher quality outcomes.

Some of your key responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed analysis of banking data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data models.
  • Create and manage interactive dashboards using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Prepare and present analytical reports to senior leaders and stakeholders, ensuring data is translated into actionable insights.
  • Develop and utilise advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems.

You could be an experienced Data Analyst who is ready to take a step up or a Senior Data Analyst looking for a new challenge. You'll have a strong background in data analytics, a deep understanding of the financial services industry. You thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment, and are ready to tackle any challenge.

You're a pro with:

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake for data warehousing.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric for data visualisation and analytics.
  • Proficiency in SQL and other relevant programming languages.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
