Senior Database Applications Engineer

The Role: They are now actively seeking a Senior Specialist with a focus on supporting a number of Databases and Applications aligned with such databases. The work that you will be responsible for is high level support aligned with applications such as Oracle’s PL/SQL along with other Databases such as PostgreSQL and it’s application PG/SQL along with SQL Server and it’s associate Data & BI Suite.
 
You’ll work as part of an existing team of Applications Specialists and Data / Database professionals to provide support to multiple external customers while reporting into the Head of Applications.
 
There is never a dull day to be had as the diversity of ideal skills and technologies can often see you working on very different projects from one month to the next.
 
Ultimately, external customers will view you as their ‘Trusted Advisor’ and specialist go-to person.
 
The essential skills and requirements for this role are:

• NZ Working rights – NZ Residents or Citizens (sorry, this is critical due to potential security checks).
• Application Support – at least 5+ years supporting enterprise applications and enterprise environments. Your career may revolve around Database Administration or Data Support Engineering. Your experience would include data and systems related integrations. Your experience would include support of applications running on both Windows and Linux.
• Applications – at least 5yrs experience with PL/SQL
• Databases – solid support experience with SQL Server (to ideally include SSIS based ETL and support), Oracle (and aligned applications and data suites) PostgreSQL (and aligned applications).
• Data Cloud Services – high level experience with Azure to include SSAS or more ideally Azure Synapse and/or Fabric or Snowflake.
• Ideal (beneficial) skills – Data/BI – Power BI or Cognos / Oracle E-Business Suite / Infrastructure as Code / Applications – PG/SQL.
