Job Description - Senior Health and Safety Specialist

Fluid Recruitment is proud to exclusively partner with Aurora Energy in searching for its Senior Health and Safety Specialist joining the Service Delivery team.

Aurora Energy supplies power to more than 93,500 homes, schools, farms and businesses in Dunedin, Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes.

The Role


Reporting directly to the GM of Service Delivery you will take the lead on working closely with Aurora's Service Providers and Approved Contractors to ensure they are operating on Aurora's network in a safe and appropriate manner. This will see you championing and further developing Aurora's trust and verify approach as well as working closely with Service Providers to ensure they have the appropriate systems in place and those systems are adhered to.


With high levels of internal interaction at various levels including Board, Executive Leadership Team and peers you will contribute to various leadership groups and undertake regular reporting. You will be support and be supported by your fellow H&S professionals within a decentralised model.



About You


An experienced H&S professional, you'll bring strong people and leadership skills. With the ability to see the bigger picture, you'll be able to work collaboratively with a range of individuals and teams, to manage risk effectively.


Additionally, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in H&S (minimum NZQA level 6)
  • Experience working within infrastructure and operational environments
  • Developed competency frameworks, policies and procedures
  • Carried out incident investigations and audits
  • Experience in compiling and presenting regular reports
