Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

 


As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based policy advice to support the Social Investment work programme. Working across the Systems Coordination and Design team and alongside operational and enabling functions, you’ll lead complex analysis, manage policy projects, and contribute to strengthening team capability.


 


Key responsibilities


 



  • Deliver timely, high-quality policy advice that is data-driven, practical, and aligned with strategic priorities.

  • Lead complex policy analysis and develop clear recommendations to inform decision-making.

  • Contribute to strategic thinking on social sector issues and the Social Investment Fund.

  • Collaborate across teams to generate insights using research, data, and analytics.

  • Provide thought leadership, challenge assumptions, and drive innovative policy solutions.

  • Apply best practice policy frameworks and ensure quality through peer review processes.

  • Work alongside operational and commissioning experts to ensure operational design reflects policy objectives.

  • Incorporate diverse perspectives, including a Te Tiriti o Waitangi lens.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across government and the policy community.

  • Identify and manage risks, ensuring accuracy and integrity of analysis and advice.

  • Support team capability through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and feedback.

About you | He kōrero mōu

 


To be successful in this role you must be able to clearly demonstrate the below skills:


 



  • Central government agency policy experience (minimum of 5 years’ experience, at least 2 years operating as a Senior).

  • Proven track record of delivering high impact, high volume work within complex environments.

  • Confident engaging with and delivering to senior leaders within SIA and across the wider Public Sector.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • A collaborative and adaptable team player, with a proactive approach to supporting a range of team functions.

  • Familiarity with social sector commissioning and experience working a the interface between central government agencies and regional service providers is highly desirable.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

 


Band 17: $106,760 - $125,600 - $150,720 (usually offers are made between $106,760 and $125,600)
