Job Description – Senior Project Manager
Primary Role
- To work on projects from conception to completion, including…
- Prepare and issue quotations for small, medium and Large )multi million dollar) projects.
- Deliver on time and on budget each and every project you are responsible for.
- Read, understqnd and advise on risk any sub-contract documents we are presented with.
- Create and work within contract programmes to ensure on time delivery.
- Ensure we provide a high quality service and finish.
- Maximise profit on each and every project you are responsible for.
Detailed Role
- To build accurate quotations with key performance indicators completed with each one to allow performance reviews as projects are underway.
- To meet face to face with key clients and specifiers to help promote our material and product specifications for current and new marketplaces.
- To form full programmes of work for each project incl shop drawings, material procurement, manufacture, delivery and installation.
- The programmes for each project are to be reported on weekly and you are to actively look at any timing / labour requirement clashes with other projects. Report these to the GM immediately.
- Work with the GM to watch the manufacture flow through the business and work to help “Smooth” this out to help meet monthly budget turnovers.
- Monitor the P&L for each project on a monthly “real time” basis. (incl reporting to the board for large projects)
- To lead and be responsible for the health and safety of all personnel on each and every project you are responsible for. (on site and in the factory)
- Procure materials in a timely manner, including monitoring of the impact of large stock quantity requirements your project may need and informing the GM of any shortfalls immediately.
- Work with the GM and the CAD / IT manager to create new product lines, including the design, costing and marketing of these.
- To monitor your own Calander, including booking accommodation, flights etc, but ensure good communication with the Office team so we have office cover.
- Work independently as needed, but also as part of a team, using the strengths of other team members and sharing the load.
Reporting to
- The General Manager.
- The Board of Directors on a monthly basis the P&L for each project over 250K in value.
- Quotations to be signed off by the General Manager prior to issue.
Will need to have:
- Experience within the joinery element of the laboratory and educational furniture industries.
- To have a strong understanding of joinery manufacture.
- Experience of Microvellum as a drawing tool.
- Good IT skills including Excel, and ideally some knowledge of “Unleashed” as a stock control tool.
- A strong Health and Safety understanding and a drive to promote H&S with all colleagues.
- To understand manufacturing systems of products.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Have good time management skills (planning/ organising/ prioritising)
- Flexibility of working hours to meet necessary deadlines as and when required.
- Be competent in conducting general administration work to support your main responsibilities.
- A full driving licence.
- A relevant NZ permit or visa to work.
