(We are talking, the big “turn-key” projects) They are now on the hunt for an experienced QS who has a dynamic approach and ability to think outside the box.
A snapshot of your day: Responsible for the end-to-end projects success by being at the forefront with clients, suppliers, sub-contractors, colleagues to manage the process from start to finish.
The engineering and project team will keep you excited, you will have an eye for detail, an ear for understanding and a mind for prediction and foresight.
People: Meeting with clients to understand their goals and working alongside architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate estimates and project feasibility.
Costings: Interpreting drawings and plans, to manage accurate calculations.
Material and labour quantity management (equipment – ductwork, piping, insulation, controls).
Administration: Tender and bid proposals, managing contract documents. Project financial control and reporting
On site: Visits and inspections to verify dimensions, quantities and project scope variations.
Timelines: Developing timelines and maintaining them alongside costs throughout construction projects.
Tracking of materials, labour hours and variations or changes.
Most relative skillset of experience that will see you really succeed: You will be familiar with the NZ Building Code, Contract Law and H&S regulations.
Preferably holding a Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management OR similar.
All of the other requirements at this level of role being attention to detail, methodical approach, numerically astute and exceptional administrative skills using project management and estimation systems – e.g. – MS Project.
You will be a Team player bringing Personality, a sense of humour, always with a finger on the pulse.
