Senior Solicitor/Senior Associate

Our Private Wealth team is looking for a Senior Solicitor or Senior Associate. This is a rare opportunity to join Aimee Mitchell, our leading private wealth partner, to advise individuals, families, family offices, and trustee companies on the establishment, restructure, management and administration of trusts and other family wealth structures in New Zealand and overseas.

Based in our Auckland office, you will be a trusted adviser to our clients on all aspects of trust law, wealth structuring, estate and succession planning, and family governance issues. You will need to have exceptional interpersonal skills, bring a practical and commercial approach, thrive on problem-solving, and have a friendly professional style.

Work scope will include:

• Building and nurturing professional relationships with a broad array of clients, including family offices, high net worth migrants, entrepreneurs and business owning families;
• Working collaboratively and coordinating the input of other specialists as required to deliver holistic solutions for clients;
• Preparing expert advice on complex trust matters, including advising on the establishment and restructure of sophisticated structures to manage and govern private wealth;
• Advising clients in connection with intergenerational wealth transfers, family governance and business succession issues;
• Working closely with advisers and clients in other jurisdictions to deliver timely and practical private wealth advice for clients with cross border issues;

To be successful in the role you will have:

• At least 4 years' legal experience with a strong background in the trusts and the private wealth field;
• Been admitted in either New Zealand, the UK, Australia or another common law jurisdiction;
• An ability to work autonomously on files and have strong technical, written and analytical skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to advise with commerciality and empathy; and
• A collaborative and solution focussed approach.
