Senior Staff Structural Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to join our Auckland office team. The successful candidate will provide design and consulting on projects within New Zealand and Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic office experiencing rapid growth in a healthy market focused on infrastructure development, specifically in the underground sector for the foreseeable future.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare civil and structural design calculations for tunnels, shafts, foundations, temporary excavation support systems and other types of underground structures.
• Integrate contractor construction methodology into design development.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex design problems and assist in developing project deliverables.
• Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to assignments with defined objectives
• Assist in developing and coordinating project deliverables, including research, analysis, and recommendations.
• Write technical reports outlining design basis and solutions.
• Direct AutoCAD technicians on plans, sections, and details.
• Participate in quality reviews prior to client submission.
• Attend project meetings and support coordination of site visits and stakeholder interactions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural) from an accredited university.
• Have 2-5 years of tunnel or structural engineering design experience.
• Direct job experience or relevant coursework in structural analysis, solid mechanics, finite element analysis, structural dynamics, reinforced concrete design, steel design, and basic geotechnical engineering.
• Ability to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, with initiative to make minor adaptations under guidance.
• Strong communication skills and developing teamwork capability.
• Familiarity with industry-standard CAD and BIM software.
• Exposure to project coordination and developing understanding of scope, schedule, and budget controls.
• Willingness to expand knowledge across disciplines and construction/field practices. 
• CPEng desirable, but not essential
