Senior Surveyor

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity 
With a wide range of secure projects in the pipeline, your expertise and skills will be valued and well-utilised in our Hawkes Bay team as a Senior Surveyor. You’ll play a key role in delivering surveying services across a range of civil infrastructure projects - ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with contract specifications and programmes.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also provide leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate surveyors, promoting Downer’s core values and best practices in surveying. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of survey quality across the Hawkes Bay region.

Ngā pūkenga matua | Important Skills

We’re looking for someone with solid experience in New Zealand surveying practices - particularly within engineering and construction environments. You’ll have a strong technical foundation, hands-on experience with major infrastructure projects, and the confidence to lead field teams to success.

Skills & experience we value:

• A NZ Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor of Surveying
• Proven construction experience, ideally on large-scale infrastructure or Tier 1 projects
• Proficiency in modern civil software (Civil 3D, 12D, Trimble Business Centre, etc.)
• Experience using Leica or Trimble Total Stations and GNSS
• Strong leadership and mentoring capability, with experience leading field teams
• Flexibility to travel to project sites across the region as needed
