This position provides technical leadership, design and implementation skills to
create and support infrastructure platform and application platform solutions. Will
be able to understand and advise on service availability and protection
methodologies and technologies.
Infrastructure Platform components: Storage, Compute, Virtualisation, Network,
DNS, Authentication, Security, Backup.
Application Platform components; Citrix, Microsoft Windows, Linux, SQL,
Exchange
Input into the product ecosystem and documentation standards and solution
process
The Senior Systems Engineer works largely within project activities to improve and
grow infrastructure capability and is responsible for solution identification, detailed
design and implementation of infrastructure solutions for the client and its
customers.
This role involves the following responsibilities:
ï· Implementing innovative infrastructure solutions in accordance with solution
architectures and detailed designs.
ï· Identifying and designing infrastructure solutions that are aligned with local
and regional architectural standards and guidelines.
ï· Providing consultancy in the evaluation, development and review of
proposals for information technology expenditure and deployment.
ï· Being viewed as a thought leader in specific technical area of expertise.
ï· Providing mentoring and coaching to Technical Services Group team or
project members as required or when opportunity arises in area of
expertise.
ï· Contributing to fault analysis, troubleshooting and problem resolution for
incidents and problems that have been escalated as a level three from the
Technical Services Team.
ï· In addition to providing overall technical leadership, this role acts as a third
level escalation point.
ï· Take responsibility for effective use of available hours and achieve targeted
proportion of chargeable/productive hours.
ï· Keep full and accurate information in internal time recording systems with
respect to hours worked and description of work completed.
ï· Involvement in the resolution of complex problems, as well as providing a
guiding and mentoring role for the Technical Services Group members.
ï· This position may require the incumbent to travel from time to time in the
course of duties.
