Senior Tax Accountant

A great new role is available for a Senior Tax Accountant to join a highly reputable CA firm in Dunedin. The firm is seeking an experienced and highly organised candidate who is looking to take the next step in their accounting and taxation career. The role is highly suited to an experienced candidate with an accounting background, and either a specialist area or interest in taxation.











About the Role






This position involves a diverse range of work, with a primary focus on taxation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that clients comply with all tax regulations and requirements in New Zealand. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and other tax-related documents. You will also be responsible for senior-level duties including reviewing the work of juniors and providing training and support. This role offers excellent opportunities for growth and professional development within a reputable firm. To succeed in this role, the successful applicant will need a passion for taxation and stay up to date on New Zealand tax laws and regulations to provide tailored strategic advice to clients. This position is also suitable for someone interested in partnership long-term, although this is not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities






This role may include but is not limited to:

• Providing business, tax, and accounting support to clients
• Preparation and filing of tax returns for individuals and businesses
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and tax-related documents
• Conduct research on tax regulations, to ensure compliance
• Reviewing and advisory work
• Streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency
• Building and developing quality client relationships

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in accounting
• Completed or working towards your CA-qualification is advantageous but not required
• 4+ years' experience in accounting and New Zealand tax regulations
• Organised and process driven
• Experience in coaching or mentoring junior staff
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Collaborative team-driven attitude
• New Zealand working rights
