Position Description – Senior Work Broker
The role proactively establishes and maintains strong relationships with employers and stakeholders, focusing on supporting and placing our MSD job seekers into sustainable employment.
 

Reports To: Operations Manager (OM)
 

Start: Mid-June 2024


Key Responsibilities
 

  1. Collaboration with MSD Staff to recruit suitable 
    • Coordinate with Employment Case Managers and Programme Coordinators to recruit suitable job seekers for our EPS programme
    • Achieve target monthly enrolments
    • Collaborate on employment-focused events and expos.
       
  2. Engagement with MSD Job Seekers
    • Upskill job seekers
      • Facilitate small group or individual job skill workshops and activities.
      • Support job seekers in putting job skills into action.
      • Provide individualised support to overcome employment barriers.
      • Communicate with the EPS Coach/es to fulfil training requirements.
         
    • Placing clients into sustainable employment
      • Ensure that clients are actively seeking employment
      • Establish client pathways that staircase clients into employment
      • Guide clients towards sustainable employment, offering career advice and ongoing support for 182 days post-placement.
         
  3. Partnership with Employers
    • Promote our comprehensive, free services to forge lasting bulk-placement employer partnerships.
    • Implement direct recruitment processes with employers, including job matching and leveraging MSD support services.
    • Provide 182-day post-placement support.
    • Establish and provide government-funded free workplace communication, including literacy, language, and numeracy training for the employees of our partner employers.
    • Fundraising for our education to employment (E2E) initiatives for high school students.
       
  4. Cooperation with MSD Work Brokers
    • Build strong relationships with MSD work brokers to meet the job placement outcome.
    • Foster local industry and employer connections to enhance employment opportunities, especially for bulk placement.
       
  5. Coordination with the Programme Administrator and Management
    • Weekly update on clients' progression.
    • Weekly meeting on self-reflection for ongoing development

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Valid Police Vetting certificate and Driver’s Licence.
  • Extensive industry connections.
  • Demonstrated marketing and sales expertise.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills. 
  • Experience in recruitment, especially within the MSD system. 
  • In-depth understanding of labour market trends in the Wellington region.
  • Knowledge of employment law and relevant policies.
