Service Technician - Welder

About the role:

We're looking a skilled, personable. energetic, versatile and customer-focused member to join our thriving heating business in the greater Waikato region.  

Our Head Office is based in Auckland but have branches in Hamilton, Hawkes Bay and Wellington.  This position will primarily be based in our branch in Karapiro, Waikato.  Jobs for this branch spread throughout the greater Waikato and Bay of Plenty region.  We operate throughout NZ and the South Pacific Islands.  Customers include those who manage places where people gather, such as hotels, motels, apartment buildings, rest homes, swimming pools, schools, universities and prisons.  We also manage assets for industrial concerns such as large bakeries, powdercoaters, saw mills, tunnelers, beverage bottlers, abattoirs, animal by-products processors and all manner of other manufacturers who need heat, hot water, hot oil or steam.

Experience with boilers and burners preferred.

Minimum 40 hours a week.

Skills and experience:

• Attending jobs on-site to complete servicing, installations or repairs unsupervised or assisting colleagues
• Liaises with Service Co-ordinator before and after every job
• Completing a JSA before every job in SBO
• Completing timesheets after every job in SBO
• Completing job notes after each job in SBO
• Raising purchase orders in SBO and gathering supplies from suppliers
• Measuring and fabricating pipe independently 
• Welding and threading stainless steel, copper, carbon or using Europress cramping
• Measuring and fabricating pipe independently 
• Install, modify, maintain and repair gas heating units and related equipment
• Install and modify all pipe work associated with gas related equipment
• Ability to test for gas pressure and leaks
• Carry out any gas works where required.
• Keep up to date with current safety regulations and requirements for the various plumbing & gas systems a company installs and maintains
• Welding and threading stainless steel, copper, carbon or using Europress crimping
• Attention to detail and ability to problem solve
• Excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills
• Using stock by entering orders on jobs 
• Returning stock to locations after installations and notifying office staff 
• Completing Site Safe, first aid, confined spaces, working at heights, elevated platforms, forklift license courses to stay compliant with industry standards. 
• Attend quarterly staff meetings, training sessions, H&S meetings, toolbox talks, etc. 
• Cleaning and organizing the workshop after every use to keep H&S compliant.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and excellent workmanship
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team

Requirements:

• Welder Fitter Qualification 
• ASME 9 Welding certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years experience in the Boiler 
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills
• Attention to detail
