About the role

As a registered Social Worker we would love you to join our amazing team working with disabled tamariki/children and their whanau/families and caregivers.

The work will largely be undertaken in the Bay of Plenty (Tauranga/Whakatane), working closely and in partnership with Oranga Tamariki, although some work in the Waikato will be required.

The Social Worker role supports a holistic and integrated approach to practice, working collaboratively with other agencies to support whanau and caregivers where a child has additional needs.

You will provide a social work service that incorporates psycho-social assessment, whanau focused practice and education. 

Requirements of the role include

• Registered Social Worker, preferably with experience in the care and protection and/or health and disability/mental health sector
• A passion for working with tamariki and their whanau who face challenges due to the impacts of disability
• Demonstrated skills and experience in psycho-social assessment, risk assessment and collaborative practice
• Experience and knowledge of applying Te Ao Maori practices
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, to identify service gaps and barriers, and work collaboratively to address these
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team, good time management and excellent communication skills
• Advocacy at an individual and systemic level
• Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed practice
• Eligibility to work in NZ
• Holder of a full, clean NZ Drivers Licence
• Ability to pass NZ Police and Oranga Tamariki checks

You will be supported in this role through the provision of internal mentorship and support from a senior practitioner, external supervision, payment of APC and continuing professional development opportunities as negotiated.
