Purpose


The Software Engineer is responsible for applying effective analysis, design, programming and testing skills to produce software systems. They will contribute their skills and insights to help the teams that they work with to succeed in the pursuit of our mission. 

Responsibilities



  • Conduct analysis of project and software requirements for assigned tasks.

  • Develop software architecture designs, code and associated tests according to project needs, in accordance with designated company standards of methodology, style and quality.

  • Perform technical tasks, including unit testing and code reviews, to support internal quality and control arrangements as defined by company policy and project requirements.

  • Contributing to successful program delivery through effective planning, effort estimation, execution and reporting of assigned tasks.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, presenting ideas and solutions clearly in oral and written form.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Customer Support, Release Management, and Customer Onboarding, to ensure successful deployment, knowledge transfer, and operation of software to customers.

  • Complete project and product documentation in compliance with relevant processes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Take ownership of deliverables and continuous improvement, seeking and providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development.

  • Identify areas of architecture design with potential to be patented.

  • Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code solutions to support reliable, repeatable software delivery.



Technical Skills



  • Proficiency in .NET development (C# preferred), with a solid understanding of the broader Microsoft ecosystem.

  • Experience with relational SQL databases, including query writing, schema design, and performance considerations.

  • Hands-on experience with containerisation using Docker, including building, running, and troubleshooting container workloads.

  • Familiarity working across both Windows and Linux operating systems, including basic administration and scripting.

  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps (ADO) Pipelines.

  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code principles, with practical experience deploying and managing Azure resources using Bicep templates and Desired State Configuration (DSC).

  • Comfortable operating in Azure cloud environments, with an understanding of how infrastructure, pipelines, and application code interact.



 Experience & Qualifications



  • 2-3 years’ experience in software development.  

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, IT or engineering (computing science major).  

  • Good written and oral communications.  

  • Strong technical documentation skills.  

  • Problem identification and process management skills.  

  • A demonstrated ability to perform work in a team environment in accordance with established standards.  

  • Experience working within a regulated or compliance focused environment such as Health or Finance is desirable.  

    What else do you need to know?

  • This is a hybrid role, and you will need to be able to work out of our Wellington CBD office at least three days per week. Of course, you are welcome to come into the office more often if that suits you!
