Mō te tūnga | About the role

As a Sourcing Advisor, you'll play an important role in supporting New Zealand Police's procurement and commercial activities, helping ensure our people have access to the services, assets, and tools they need to deliver for New Zealand communities. Working within the Procurement and Commercial team, you'll support sourcing activities, provide guidance to business stakeholders, and contribute to effective procurement outcomes across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their procurement and commercial expertise while working in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.

Key Accountabilities:

• Support the delivery of routine and lower-complexity sourcing activities.


• Assist with preparing procurement and sourcing documentation, including RFx processes, evaluation materials, and approval papers.


• Provide advice and support to business units on procurement processes, requirements, and approved frameworks.


• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and deliver a high standard of customer service.


• Support supplier engagement, evaluation processes, and contract award activities.


• Maintain accurate procurement records, data, and documentation to support compliance and reporting requirements.


• Contribute to the effective operation of procurement systems, workflows, and processes.


• Promote the use of approved procurement tools, templates, and self-service resources.


• Support compliance with procurement policies, legislative requirements, and Government Procurement Rules.


• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to enhancements in procurement practices and capability.

•  Experience within a procurement, sourcing, commercial, or related business environment.


• Strong customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, practical, and solution-focused advice.


• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.


• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, with confidence engaging a range of stakeholders.


• Experience working with systems, processes, and maintaining accurate records.


• Knowledge of procurement principles and an understanding of the New Zealand Government Procurement environment.


• A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to help strengthen organisational capability.


• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment.


• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent practical experience in a related discipline. Professional procurement memberships or qualifications are advantageous

Professional tertiary qualification in relevant discipline, or ability to demonstrate equivalent relevant business experience is desirable.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $103,836 and $109,983 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
