Sous Chef

Wai Hospitality  Group in Queenstown proudly operates Public Kitchen and Bar, Finz Seafood and Grill, and Bella Cucina three magnificent restaurants in Queenstown, collectively known as Wai Hospitality Group.

We require a Sous Chef who genuinely cares and wants to join an amazing team to deliver memorable experiences for the guests. Successful candidates will have a minimum of 5 years kitchen experience or a formal culinary qualification with at least 1 year as a chef in a restaurant kitchen. 

Tasks and Responsibilities                                                

• Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes as per the restaurant's standards            


• Helping the head chef to develop and cost new dishes.


• Use programs; Loaded and Chomp to achieve costs and efficiencies.  


• Helping to writing rosters and contributing to kitchen wage KPI's                                       


• Monitoring portion and waste control, correct storage of goods to help maintain profit margins.  


• Training kitchen staff                         


• Communication with other kitchen staff and the restaurant team.                                    


• Ensure the customers experience the best the restaurant has to offer                            


• Prep lists, ordering, stock takes, cost of goods KPI's

We offer:

• $32 to $35 per hour depending on experience


• Minimum of 30 hours per week, rostered shifts

Applicants should be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months and be a New Zealand citizen/resident or hold a valid work visa. We are however, an Accredited Employer and can offer Visa support if required.
