Worker Type:

Permanent

Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."

We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.

Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us

If you have outstanding communication skills and the ability to consistently create high quality, inspiring content, we have an awesome opportunity for you! We are looking for a Strategic Communications Partner to support BNZ's Partnership Banking Team with brilliant internal communications.

We work in a collaborative, creative and agile environment with a strong focus on your learning and development and career progression. You can look forward to enjoying six weeks annual leave every year, flexible work environment of being able to work at home two days a week, great employee benefits (e.g. Life and medical insurance, etc) and fantastic supplier discounts for various services.

This is an opportunity to join a great Corporate Affairs team and support BNZ's biggest business unit, owning end-to-end internal communication strategies from the Executive to front line.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We sat down with our Head of Internal Communications, and they let us know the following about the role.

What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Develop and maintain great relationships with key stakeholders in BNZ's Partnership Banking business unit and across the organisation

  • Together with the Partnership Banking Team, the Internal Communications tīma (team) and the wider Corporate Affairs tīma, create and deliver the Partnership Banking's internal communications strategy.

  • Provide day to day support, guidance and counsel to the Partnership Banking leadership team, to ensure great messaging, storytelling and critical information all get shared across the business unit and to the wider BNZ enterprise

  • Seek out great stories that showcase the brilliant work of our Partnership Banking teams to deliver for our customers and New Zealand communities.

What is the team culture and environment like?

We're fast paced, we get stuff done, we're well connected and respected, and have the ultimate privilege of  a remit that encourages us to range far and wide, high and low, throughout the business to find great stories. Demands are high, but the mahi (work) is brilliant. The team's tight, loves a challenge and has a great time working together to deliver the best results.

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?

The key work for the first three to six months will be to identify opportunities to enhance the communications support for the Partnership Banking team. With ambitious goals and lots of change happening with new systems, keeping the team connected and engaged is more important than ever.

What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity?

This is a business with ambitious goals and a leadership team fired up to make it happen. Our Partnership Banking Team is our biggest business unit with the widest connection to our customers. It's a team hungry to share their success stories and showcase the great work they do for our customers.

What is your favourite thing about working for BNZ?

The amazing benefits are a huge pull - flexible working, six weeks' annual leave,  health and life insurance, and a generous parental leave package. As a team and a business, we look after each other and we love working for our customers, communities and colleagues.

What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?

This role is suited to those who have internal communications experience and are successful in building relationships, including with Senior Leaders. You'll love navigating ambiguity and cherish your role as a trusted advisor.

But there's more… you'll be:

  • An opportunity spotter but strategic

  • A straight shooter but diplomatic

  • A listener and a storyteller

  • Confident and decisive

  • Energetic and calm under pressure

Nau Mai ki te Pēke o Aotearoa | Come to the Bank of New Zealand
