We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Growth Manager to play a hands-on, commercially focused role in expanding Komatsu New Zealand's market presence and driving business growth.

This national role is focused on getting out into the market, identifying untapped opportunities and actively converting these into commercial outcomes. You'll play a key role in targeting major projects, developing new market segments and expanding our equipment sales, rental and leasing business.

Working closely with our sales teams and key stakeholders, you'll build relationships with key decision-makers, develop tailored customer solutions and drive new business opportunities from initial engagement through to securing sales.

The role will involve regular national travel to engage directly with customers, explore emerging opportunities and strengthen Komatsu's presence across New Zealand.

What you’ll be doing:

• Proactively identify, develop and convert new business opportunities, from initial customer engagement through to commercial negotiations and securing sales.


• Identify major projects and emerging markets early, developing tailored equipment, rental, lease and broader commercial solutions to secure long-term business.


• Build strategic account plans and strengthen relationships with key customers and decision-makers.


• Partner with Territory Sales Managers and internal teams to pursue and deliver complex sales opportunities.


• Use market intelligence, customer insights and pipeline data to identify gaps, guide sales strategies and grow market share.

What We Are Looking For

We’re looking for a commercially driven individual with a proven track record in developing sales strategies, identifying growth opportunities and building strong customer relationships.

You will bring:

• Proven experience in business development, strategic sales or key account management, with a strong focus on driving commercial growth.


• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes.


• Strong analytical skills, with experience using sales data, market trends and competitor insights to identify gaps, opportunities and areas for growth.


• Experience identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including developing target customer plans and expanding market share.


• A strong understanding of machinery, construction and utility equipment, or capital equipment sales would be highly advantageous.


• Excellent relationship-building, negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and key stakeholders.


• A proactive, commercially minded approach, with the ability to turn strategic plans into practical sales initiatives and results.
