The Strategy Manager plays a critical role at One NZ, developing corporate strategy, defining priorities for the business, and working on a range of important strategic projects such as M&A, infrastructure sharing, partnerships and new business opportunities.

Reporting directly to the GM, Strategy and Transformation, the role will play a key leadership role within the team, acting as a coach and mentor for more junior team members.

Please note this is a 12-month contract opportunity.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

• Maintain an understanding of the NZ Telco landscape and One NZ’s competitive position within it
• Understand major industry and technology trends, and the implications of these trends for One NZ
• Deliver analysis and insight to the business to support decision making and setting of strategic initiatives.
• Ensure there is a well-articulated Corporate Strategy, set around an agreed future ambition, that allows the organisation to understand priorities and trade-offs
• Work with the internal communications team to ensure the corporate strategy is communicated widely and effectively
• Ensure budgets and corporate plans align seamlessly to strategy, and that individual business unit plans and budgets appropriately reflect competitive dynamics and agreed strategic priorities
• Lead and support important strategic projects including M&A, infrastructure sharing, partnerships and new business opportunities
• Develop relationships around the business to support information gathering, developing hypotheses, sharing insights and sense-checking recommendations
• Lead the development of materials for quarterly Executive and Board strategy sessions
• Maintain a steadfast focus on the future, serving as a relentless voice of change amidst the challenges of day-to-day

• Background in Consulting and/or relevant experience in a corporate Strategy role
• Degree from a top tier university (minimum 2:1)
