Structural Technician

Babbage Consultants Limited is an employee-owned multi-disciplinary practice offering tailored consultancy services across Architecture, Building Services, Civil Engineering, Land Development, Planning, Environmental and Structural disciplines throughout New Zealand. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Technician to join our team in Auckland. You will work with a highly motivated team who are passionate about what they do.

Primary Activities

• Undertake structural drafting assignments including, but not limited to, leading drafting setup and delivery in support of the structural team within the Auckland office.


• Provide company-wide BIM expertise and advice in support of BIM/drafting standards.


• Assist the Auckland office with the development of BIM Execution Plans and standardisation of BIM families/libraries.

Role Requirements

• Ensure projects are undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner and to acceptable professional standards. 


• Liaise closely with other disciplines/team members involved with projects, and work co-operatively to achieve best overall solutions.


• Undertake such reporting as is required.


• Willing to travel for projects where required.


• Promote the structural engineering, BIM and other services of Babbage, during your everyday client interactions.

Personal Qualifications & Attributes

• A strong drafting background and experience in BIM.


• Strong organisational and project observation skills.


• A thorough knowledge of all relevant regulatory requirements and practices, together with a positive commitment to broadening skills.


• Sound commercial knowledge, and an understanding of the delivery of drafting projects in a structural consultancy practice.


• Able to communicate well with staff, clients, contractors and management, both verbally and in writing.


• A commitment to the commercial success of the Auckland Structural Team and to the Company.
