Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an International Short Course Student Support Adviser to join our Te Papa Manaaki Campus Care Team and play a key role in ensuring international short course participants feel welcome, supported, and able to make the most of their time at Waipapa Taumata Rau.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcoming and orienting international short course students to the University and helping them access relevant services
  • Providing pastoral care and responding to wellbeing needs, including referrals to specialist services where appropriate
  • Supporting students’ co-curricular involvement and building a sense of belonging
  • Coordinating with services across the University and external providers to ensure a consistent, high-quality student experience
  • Maintaining accurate student records in the CRM system



This is a full time (37.5 hours per week), 12-month fixed term position. 

On occasion, you may be required to work outside normal business hours to support student arrivals and departures (for example, airport pickups or transfers to accommodation).



The remuneration range for this role is between $66,801 - $77,800 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

He kōrero mōu | About you

We are looking for someone who is warm, approachable, and has excellent attention to detail. Our preferred candidate will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • At least three years’ experience working with diverse student populations; domestic, international and professional, and be able to understand their needs.
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with a caring and student-centred approach
  • Experience providing pastoral care support to students or young people (highly desirable)
  • The ability to start work almost immediately, ideally by 20 October 2025, ahead of programmes commencing in November
