We are looking for a Subcommittee Support Officer to join our Infrastructure Services team. This role provides governance, administration, property, and community engagement support to Council’s Reserve and Hall Subcommittees, helping them successfully manage community facilities and reserves on behalf of Buller District Council. The position is currently 25 hours per week, with the potential to expand into a full-time role as the function develops and organisational requirements grow.

The Opportunity | Te Whai Wāhitanga
This role offers a unique mix of:

• Building strong relationships with Reserve and Hall Subcommittees, community volunteers, Elected Members, and Council staff.


• Provide governance, administration, and operational support to community facilities and reserves across the district.


• Assisting with implementation of the Reserve Management Plan in partnership with Council teams and community stakeholders.


• Assisting with funding applications and helping identify funding opportunities that benefit community facilities.

What You'll Bring | Ō Pūkenga me Ō Wheako
We are looking for someone with the following:

Essential:

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.


• Understanding of meeting procedures, governance frameworks, and committee administration.


• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement experience.


• Ability to work independently while building collaborative relationships across diverse groups.


• Strong administration and computer skills.


• Full current driver’s licence.

Desirable:

• Experience managing facility, property, or community asset-related activities.


• Knowledge of funding and grant application processes.
