Job Description - Support Worker - Flexi

About us


Comcare is an established Mental Health and Housing provider assisting people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Mental Health Support Services, Housing and Housing Support Services.



A great opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join Comcare working in a ‘Flexi’ role. You would be based in any service that needs your skills and experience, and you would report to that respective Line Manager for your day-to-day duties/responsibilities but would report to the Service Manager of Housing Service Delivery for ongoing support.



About this role


The work will involve Comcare support work in its various forms, depending on the service you are currently based in. We would ensure that you have the training and support required for the role you are fulfilling.



What you’ll be doing



  • Working with a defined caseload of individuals to enhance their community living skills and to develop self-management of their lives

  • Assisting clients make connections with appropriate services/agencies and ensure required services are received

  • Active participation in shared planning with the client, their family, other clinical and non-clinical providers

  • Communication and liaison with health and community agencies

  • Maintaining accurate health records and statistical data.



About you


To be successful in this role, you will have:



  • A client-centred approach, supporting people to build independence, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals while living well in the community.

  • Strong communication and relationship skills, enabling effective liaison with clients, whānau, clinical teams, community agencies, and internal services.

  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to move across different Comcare services as needed while maintaining high standards of practice and professionalism.

  • Professionalism in practice, including accurate record‑keeping, active participation in training and supervision, and a strong focus on health, safety, and wellbeing.

  • Experience working in the mental health and addictions sector would be an advantage.

  • Applicants must hold a current full, clean driver’s license.

  • You will have a cultural awareness, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.



It is desirable that you have a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 - Mental Health and Addiction Support (or equivalent qualification) or are committed to studying towards one.



Eligibility


Applicants for this position must have the legal right to work in NZ and consent to undergo a criminal record check process.
