Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Kereru Service is a one-to-one service based in Hoon Hay, where you will support Jake, a 21-year-old man who lives independently and has a range of strong interests, including gardening, animals, fast cars, and creative projects such as LEGO and diamond art.
With a recent transition out of school, this role focuses on supporting Jake to build a structured and engaging weekday routine that reflects his interests and supports him to stay connected in his community. You will work alongside him to explore new opportunities, develop skills, and create a balance between home-based activities and community participation.
This role also includes supporting with personal cares, medication, and maintaining his home environment. A key part of this position is providing steady, respectful support, particularly during times when Jake may feel frustrated, while encouraging independence and choice.
You will be someone who is patient, adaptable, and able to bring initiative and creativity to the role, with a genuine interest in building a strong, trusting relationship and supporting Jake to live a life that is meaningful to him.
You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space.
Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.95 and $29.10 per hour.
