He kōrero mōu | About You
A qualified Support Worker with strong knowledge of mental health and ability to provide culturally appropriate wellbeing support to our Muslim clients. You will be skilled at building and maintaining trusting relationships with clients, have a respectful, empathetic manner and be highly motivated to make a difference in the lives of our clients. You are solution-focused and capable of finding the strengths of the people you work with. Ideally, you will have knowledge of recovery perspectives and of the Strengths Model and Te Whare Tapa Wha.
He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role
This role is for Support Workers within our Muslim Wellbeing Support service. Using the principles of client recovery and utilising community resources, you will actively work with clients to identify goals and support needs, and work towards the achievement of these. You will build strong partnerships with clients, whānau, and communities and deliver cultural appropriate wrap-around and individualised support.
What you will need to have:
Bilingual
Ability to understand issues facing refugees, including dealing with past experiences of abuse and trauma
Ability to advocate, network and build positive community relationships
Knowledge of NZ health system and local community groups and resources available
Relevant qualifications in Health and Wellbeing are essential
NZ professional body registration if applicable to the role
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
All applicants must have New Zealand Residency, a full and clean driver's license and a clean police record.
