We are seeking a talented individual to join our NZ Fund Services team at Mercer. This role will be based in Wellington or Auckland.  This is a hybrid role and Mercer offers flexible working

Tax Advisor

We will count on you to:

• Support the NZ Tax Manager with tax compliance responsibilities across Mercer Funds in New Zealand, including income tax and PIE tax compliance.

• Collaborate with external tax advisors, registry and custodians to ensure accurate tax information and compliance.

• Review annual income tax provisions, trust distributions, tax statements, and unit pricing tax accruals in line with policies.

• Ensure Funds operate within relevant tax policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.

• Contribute to tax-related initiatives such as new business proposals, fund restructures, and product projects.

What you need to have:

• Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, tax, law, commerce, or related discipline.  Could be working towards completing CA but not necessary to be CA qualified.

• Minimum 2-3 years post-qualification experience in tax roles; financial services experience preferred but not essential.

• Solid technical knowledge of NZ tax policy, especially relating to unit trusts and PIE taxation.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Familiarity with tax compliance processes in a fund accounting context.
