We are looking for an Access and Choice Team Leader to provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) team. You will guide a multidisciplinary team of HIPs to deliver consistent, culturally safe, and equitable services across the network. HIPs provide immediately accessible, evidence-based interventions to individuals and their families to help improve mental health and physical wellbeing.

As fully integrated members of the practice team, they identify health concerns and co‑create practical, achievable plans with patients. Based on the behavioural health consultant model, the service is adapted to reflect the diverse needs of Aotearoa New Zealand.

What are we looking for:

• A registered health professional with a relevant tertiary qualification and a current Annual Practising Certificate


• Proven experience in primary care and/or community mental health services


• Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to support, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team


• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both internal and external


• Experience in service delivery planning, quality improvement, and operational management


• A commitment to equity, cultural safety, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles


• Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities


• A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
