Downer’s Energy Transmission team is looking for a hands-on Team Leader to join our Foundations crew, based from Palmerston North.
This is a practical, field-based leadership role supporting transmission tower foundation works, including pylons, excavation, concreting, plant operation and quality assurance. You’ll be leading jobs on site while staying hands-on with the crew, making sure work is delivered safely, to standard and with the right paperwork in place.
You'll work alongside electrical infrastructure and live circuits as part of critical transmission projects. Exposure to this environment is beneficial, however will be training provided.
The role is based from Valor Drive, Palmerston North however travel is a big part of this position. You’ll mobilise with the wider team across Taranaki, Taupō, Manawatū and surrounding areas, with around 85% of your working time spent away from home.

We’re looking for experienced operators or construction leaders who are confident working with foundations, leading crews and who don’t mind working in rough terrain, with regular travel away from home.
You’ll bring:
Experience in transmission, tower foundations, pylon work or electrical environments would be a strong advantage, but it’s not essential if you bring the right construction background and attitude.
