Job Description - Team Leader Lifeguard

This is a busy role with loads of opportunities to grow and develop based at Coastlands Aquatic Centre. Our lifeguard team is on a mission to be the best. If you really rate your lifeguarding skills, enjoy leading teams by example, and thrive in a busy environment then we’d like to hear from you.

You’ll be one of four Team Leader Lifeguards reporting to the Operations Manager. When on duty you will lead and organize your team, manage water quality, liaise with our frontline, contractors, conduct ‘in service training’. You’ll also manage and report on incidents, ensure the facility has the highest of standards for supervision, health and safety, and customer service.

Salary range for this role is $64,400 - $72,000 per annum pro-rata.

Skills and Experience

  • Hold a current poolside lifeguard qualification and relevant NZQA water quality management unit standards. Expired qualifications may also be considered but will be required to undergo renewal.
  • Holds a current NZ Certificate Senior Lifeguard L3 and working towards Level 4 OR relevant experience as a Senior Lifeguard.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Possess skills and experience (or proven aptitude) in aquatic plant operation and poolside supervision.
  • Be capable of dealing with the public in a confident, calm and friendly manner and dealing with emergency situations.
  • Be able to work all shifts of the roster – weekdays, weekends, day and late shifts.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to and capability for dealing with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation.
  • Current and valid New Zealand Drivers’ licence is preferred but not essential.
