Job Description - Technical Writer & Trainer
Reporting to the Engineering Standards Manager, the Technical Writer/Trainer will play a dual role, helping our subject matter experts develop their writing skills while producing a broad range of key technical documents for internal and external users. This position is based in Dunedin - a relaxed city of short commutes, surrounded by beautiful beaches and blessed with great character thanks to its stunning architecture and vibrant arts scene. About You This is a great opportunity for an experienced technical writer who also has an interest in training and spreading a culture of good communication. You'll have great social skills and are good at adjusting your style depending on who you're working with. The role is a varied one, but with two main thrusts: Working with subject matter experts to develop standards, specifications, work procedures and other related documents. Facilitating workshops and developing training materials, writing tools, and processes aimed at building the skills and confidence of our team when it comes to technical communication. To be successful in this role you will bring: Strong writing skills and attention to detail Experience developing technical documents in a highly regulated engineering setting An understanding of adult learning theory and learning styles, coupled with confidence running workshops and training sessions Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word's styles, templates, and other automation functions Experience with single sourcing technologies, documentation libraries, or eLearning development would be an advantage.
