Purpose of this position
The primary purpose of the Technology Productivity Specialist at Buddle Findlay is to ensure that all staff members are maximizing the potential of available and relevant technologies to optimize productivity. This includes use and understanding of the Document Management System, Practice Management System, Office 365 applications, and emerging AI technologies, which collectively support the firm's operational and strategic objectives.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of optimizing technology use in a prestigious law firm, ensuring that Buddle Findlay continues to lead in both legal practice and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities
• Develop, implement and deliver training that enhances productivity through effective use of all available technology within the firm.
• Train and support employees in the use of firm-specific software and general productivity tools, ensuring a high level of digital literacy across the firm.
• Frequently evaluate and recommend new technologies or upgrades that might enhance efficiency.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for all systems under your purview.
• Partner with technology teams, business operations teams and legal teams to tailor technology solutions to meet the unique needs of each team and the firm.
• Proactively engage with all legal teams by attending their monthly meetings.
• Develop and maintain eLearning content to ensure content is up to date and reflective of current practices.
• Ensure LMS is updated, maintained, and is being used to enhance learning experiences across the firm.
• Lead workshops and seminars to foster a technology-forward culture within the firm.
• Measure and report on effectiveness of training in terms of adoption, uptake and productivity.
• Stay updated on industry trends in legal technology to ensure the firm remains competitive.
• Conduct testing on both application upgrades and new applications prior to release to the firm, reporting all findings to the National Training Manager, and if necessary, the Technology Management Team.
• Conduct Monthly testing on Office 365 products
Key skills and attributes
• Expert knowledge of Document Management Systems and Practice Management Systems.
• Expert in Office 365 applications and AI applications in a legal context.
• Strong teaching and communication skills to effectively educate and support staff.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• High levels of initiative and the ability to work both independently and in teams.
• Passionate about technology and its applications in improving productivity.
Key relationships
Internal:
• Work closely with legal teams to align technology use with business needs.
• Partner with People and Culture to incorporate technology training in employee development programs.
• Collaborate with business operations department leaders to identify and address specific workflow inefficiencies.
• Support the legal staff to ensure they are effectively using technology in their day-to-day operations.
External:
• Liaise with technology vendors and service providers to ensure the firm has access to the best tools and support.
• Network with industry experts and participate in forums to stay abreast of the latest in technology and productivity strategies.
