Comcare is an established Mental Health and Housing provider assisting people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Mental Health Support Services, Housing and Housing Support Services. 


Comcare is an innovative and forward-thinking organisation focused on helping people live well in the Canterbury region. Along with other NGO’s and Primary Health Organisations and Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, we partner to deliver Te Tumu Waiora (To head toward wellness) a primary mental health and addiction service based in General Practice, designed to make mental health care more accessible, integrated, and person-centred.  




About this role  


We are looking for a passionate People Leader to lead a team, made up of Health Coaches based in General Practice and Support Workers based in the community, providing rapid, targeted brief intervention to people who are experiencing mental distress or who need behavioural advice and support.
The service is founded on strong partnerships particularly between Comcare and General Practice and the ability to work as part of a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team.




What you’ll be doing 



  • Regular coaching and mentoring of staff, including managing workloads. 



  • Collaborating with the Te Tumu Waiora project team to support the implementation and sustainability of the model. 



  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with referrers and stakeholders. 



  • Monitoring the sustainability of client support services through evaluation processes. 



  • Providing regular internal and external service reports, including monthly updates. 



  • Working in partnership with clients and/or whānau to provide culturally responsive and appropriate support to improve outcomes and reduce inequities. 


 


About you 


To be successful in this role, you will have: 



  • A significant clinical and/or relationship management experience working alongside or in general practice settings and/or

  • Experience in the leadership or delivery of Te Tumu Waiora.

  • A positive outlook and a passion to help others. 



  • A proven and solid leadership experience. 



  • Flexibility and adaptability and able to make well considered decisions.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes and practices. 




    • The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining good attention to detail. 



    • Strong problem-solving skills.

    • Effective communication skills.


     


    It is preferable for the Team Leader to have:  



    • The ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.

    • Experience of working with people with complex needs.

    • Experience of reporting and compliance.

    • Excellent English language verbal and written skills. 


     


    Applicants must hold a current full, clean driver’s license.  




    You will have a cultural awareness, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
     


    Eligibility
