CAKE has 8 vacancies to join our hard-working team of Tower Structure Maintainers in Auckland.

The roles are physically demanding and exciting as we climb, waterblast, paint, torque bolts, install earth plates, replace steel members and undertake outage work on transmission towers, throughout the country.

Location: Based in Auckland with project work across New Zealand - this is a mandatory part of the job

Type: Full-time, permanent
Pay rate: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on skills and experience
Minimum guaranteed hours: 40 hours weekly

Job description
The key tasks you will be involved with include:

• To complete maintenance on towers throughout the upper North Island region


• Follow all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental systems and procedures


• Provide structural repairs to the towers


• Water wash and blast towers


• Abrasive blast towers


• Paint towers


• Replace bolts and steel members on towers


• Install Earth Plates


• Apply Earths to Isolated and Earthed Conductor


• Hold Outage Permits


• To follow all specifications


• To undertake training as required

Qualifications/experience
We need experienced people, so you must have AT LEAST 3 years of related work experience such as: 

• undertaking tower maintenance, painting or linesman duties; or


• Industrial painting and including blasting

A qualification would be useful but is not required if you have sufficient experience.

CAKE will provide extensive on-the-job training, including for working at heights, and support individuals in gaining a Level 4 qualification.

You will have a current NZ Driver’s license or be readily able to obtain one.

You will be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and routine random testing undertaken.

You will be a good communicator and have the ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing in English. You are highly motivated, physically fit, enjoy working in teams and demonstrate a commitment to learning and growing. A positive attitude is the key thing here!
