Our team of specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, phlebotomists, couriers, and shared services personnel deliver a world-class service that together collects, analyses, and reports over 7 million patient results annually.

Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Patient Services Department is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee. This role is based in either Warkworth, Orewa, or Whangaparāoa. We are looking to fill two part-time positions, but we also warmly welcome applications for casuals.

Responsibilities include:

• The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.


• Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.

• Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Specimen Services is desirable, but not essential.


• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
