Awanui Labs Blenheim (previously known as Medlab South) provides high quality diagnostic pathology services to the community, healthcare professionals and their patients. Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

About the role | Mō te tūranga:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Trainee or Qualified Phlebotomist to join our Bleinhelm Laboratory team. This is a casual position with no set hours or days of work.

Responsibilities:

• The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.


• Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.

• Good computer skills.


• Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Patient Services is desirable, but not essential.


• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
